Dr. Lynn Margulis is Distinguished University Professor in the Department of Geosciences at the University of Massachussetts, Amherst. She studies studies symbiosis and symbiogenesis. Symbiogenesis is a theory of evolution that argues that new tissues and even new species can form from different organisms being in contact with each other.
