Community Outreach

Station and Network Partners

Outreach enables public radio stations to connect with their communities to provide information and resources from a trusted source. With The DNA Files, station outreach helps to generate interest in and increase the public’s understanding and awareness of genetic research and its implications. By developing local partnerships with science and children’s museums, parks, youth and senior organizations, schools, churches and others, local stations reach new audiences and provide valuable resources and learning opportunities.

Using the national programming themes of The DNA Files as a springboard, local stations also produce innovative companion programming, making genetic science relevant to the listening area.

SoundVision Productions has awarded grants of $8-12,000 to 10 local stations to assist them with outreach and local programming. The funding aims to help stations reach a broad audience and to extend The DNA Files beyond the airwaves.
