The Producer
Larry Massett
Larry Massett is a senior independent radio producer.
His documentaries on a wide range of topics - the oil industry in Louisiana,
deforestation in Nepal, retirement communities in Florida, the Sarvoydaya
movement in Sri Lanka, elephant trainers in Arkansas, virtual reality
in Los Alamos - appear on National Public Radio's All Things Considered
and other vehicles.
His documentary about the Princeton Engineering Anomalies Research Laboratory,
On the Edge of Reason, won the l993 AAAS-Westinghouse science journalism
award. His 13-part CPB/Annenberg series on the modernization of China
and Japan won an Armstrong Award.
His work has been supported by the National Education Association, the
National Endowment for the Humanities, the Ford Foundation, the Town Creek
Foundation, the United Nations Development Programme, UNICEF, and others.
He was a co-founder, and for many years host, of the award-winning documentary
series Soundprint.
He has a BA from Oberlin College and an MA from Catholic University.
He has worked as Behavioral Sciences editor for Science News magazine,
assistant editor for The Washingtonian, and has written for The
Smithsonian and other magazines.
